At Glenunga Medical Centre we provide a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to assist patients with a variety of cardiac conditions, including patients who are either at risk of a heart attack or who have been treated for one.
Cardiovascular disease is one of the most common health problems in Australia.
The major preventable risk factors for cardiovascular disease are:
- tobacco smoking
- high blood pressure
- high blood cholesterol
- insufficient physical activity
- overweight and obesity
- poor nutrition
When a patient is indicated as high risk or is recovering from a cardiac event, they are booked in with our Nurse.
These Nurse works in conjunction with the patient’s Doctor to create the best plan of action to suit the patient.
These plans can include assistance from local Dieticians, Physiotherapists and other allied professionals as needed.
